I Drew a Line Here

Borders, freedom, and the traps that feel like freedom.
Words & music by Brody Bond · Written July 4, 2019
I drew a line here To define things To make clear The separation … of ground … of life … of skin I drew a line here
These colors don’t run (You can’t outrun a bullet) It’s a race to get born (You can’t escape your spirit)
I drew a line here Anywhere would do It was through your tears A line was all that mattered now … for law … for love … for peace … for protection I drew a line here
Coulda been there But it’s here
These colors don’t run (Why would you try to outrun a bullet?) It’s a race to get born (No one can take your spirit) I’m trapped on each side (An edge is a horizon) What feels like freedom (Gives you every reason) Justifies your reasons The trap feels like freedom
